I highly encourage the younger students to read this to get a sense of
the purpose of the PL Jr seminar. Aaron's write up does a good job
explaining how, as a new phd student, you will often feel lost in the
primary PL seminar and, more broadly, the day-to-day research
conversation of the lab, and how PL Jr aims to help this by providing
you a forum where can explore some of the basic topics of the field
with your fellow students in depth. Think of it as an ongoing topics
course in PL, run by you.

It also gives you an opportunity to practice giving talks, albeit
often less structured ones.

 Dan
