The exam covers chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7 of your textbook.
It is closed book, closed notes, no e-devices.

It begins by stating:

"In answering the questions below it is important to use technical
concepts and terminology from HCI, where they apply. There are four
questions (one chapter has been omitted). Try to skip extraneous or
introductory material in your answers - get straight to the point. If
you're not satisfied with something you've written, just cross it out
and insert some alternate material."

The material that you will be responsible focuses on:

Chapter 1, Usability.

Chapter 2, Section 2.3.1 on conceptual models.

Chapter 3, Section 3.3 on conceptual models, focusing on Mental
Models, External Cognition, and Distributed Cognition.

Chapter 4, You can prepare your answer in advance. The question you
will be asked is,

"Pick some social computer-based system that you are familiar
with, e.g., Facebook or Twitter, and discuss how its design and
function relate to the discussions in Chapter 4: Designing for
collaboration and communication".

Chapter 7, Section 7.4 on interviews and questionnaires.
