[PRL] Undergraduate research opportunities?

I had a strong first-year student ask about undergraduate research 
opportunities.  What is available from the PRL?

I have a project (a Student Language to JavaScript compiler) that I 
think he could handle.  The deliverables would include a DrScheme 
feature for compiling CSU211 programs (games, animations, etc) for the 
web and perhaps a Scheme workshop submission.  But I have no means to 
support an undergraduate student (I don't even know what "support" would 
mean in this context -- maybe it's just a matter of independent study 
credits?).

How does this work?  If financial support is needed, would someone be 
willing to support this project while I advise him?
