Richard Hamming talks on how to do significant research. For those who
don't know this already, it is a great read. A few excerpts to arouse
your curiosity:

on the Nobel prize effect:
"...if you do some good work you will find yourself on all kinds of
committees and unable to do any more work."

his favorite quotation:
"The Institute of Advanced Study in Princeton, in my opinion, has
ruined more good scientists than any institution has created..."

on library work:
"If you read all the time what other people have done you will think
the way they thought."
