There is a free workshop on computing using GPUs (Graphic Processing Units)
for General Purpose computing. The graphics board of a PC can be directly
programmed in a high level language such as C. The graphics board
then serves as an accelerator for many CPU-intensive computations.

The workshop is at Northeastern University on Oct. 4. The web page is at:
    http://www.ece.neu.edu/GPGPU/
It is sponsored by CenSSIS and co-organized by David Kaeli and Miriam
Leeser.

This part of RICSS 2007, which also discusses the GPU and imaging
applications
on Oct. 3.

Feel free to also recommend this to students who might be interested.
