But isn't the absence of these problems, Paul, due to the fact that
you've already gone through this configuration process?  In my
experience, SVN is no better than CVS as far as this aspect of its
operation is concerned.

I really don't want to add any fuel to this particular advocacy fire,
but I agree with Felix.  In my case, I like---well, liked---to use
pcl-cvs, and the Subversion backend for that was not compatible with
XEmacs the last time I tried.
