After that, I followed Richard's solution and used:

\newcommand\Mathbf[1]{\mbox{\boldmath$#1$}}

A slight problem with it is that the font size does not change in sub-
or superscripts.  But so far, I can ignore it and am fine with it.

As for \langle and \rangle, I used the poor man's solution:

\newcommand\Langle{\langle\!\!\langle}
\newcommand\Rangle{\rangle\!\!\rangle}
