Dear Crista:

again, my warmest congratulations to your award.
I look forward to your visit and the ceremony.
It would be great to have you give a talk to
our college faculty if it fits into your schedule.

Best regards,

PS. You will get an official letter from NEU. Here is a preview
of the most important parts.

The Outstanding Alumni Award was established in 1978 and remains the most
prestigious Northeastern award for alumni. Each year, members of our
honors and awards committee, comprised of one associate dean from each
college, as well as alumni, meet to choose a recipient from each college
from a vast pool of candidates. Candidates are nominated by college deans
and faculty, alumni and friends of the University, and staff. The caliber
of candidates is always extraordinary and award winners are chosen from a
very strong, competitive pool.

We are delighted this year to offer Cristina Lopes an Outstanding Alumni
Award for the College of Computer Science. Award recipients are invited to
our Homecoming Alumni Awards Banquet, our most prestigious annual
Northeastern alumni event, where they are celebrated with elegance and
style before an audience of 500 that includes President Freeland, Chairman
Neal Finnegan, Trustees, Faculty, Staff, and friends of the Northeastern
community.

The 2004 banquet will be held at the Sheraton-Boston Hotel,
October 29, and will begin
at 5:00 p.m. with a Green Room reception for recipients, President
Freeland, and distinguished guests. ...
