[scponly] can't start sftp-server on Fedora Core 5

That's not what we are looking for -- that's actually an iptables log entry.  
You might have to change your syslog settings to get it to show up 
in /var/log/<blah>.

It should look something like:

scponly[25409]: chrooted binary in place, will chroot()
scponly[25409]: 3 arguments in total.
scponly[25409]:         arg 0 is scponlyc
scponly[25409]:         arg 1 is -c
scponly[25409]:         arg 2 is rsync --server -vlogDtprz .
scponly[25409]: opened log at LOG_AUTHPRIV, opts 0x00000029
scponly[25409]: retrieved home directory of
"/home/sbs/store000/bobo//home/main" for user "bobo"
scponly[25409]: chrooting to dir: "/home/sbs/store000/bobo"
scponly[25409]: chdiring to dir: "/home/main"
scponly[25409]: setting uid to 1019
scponly[25409]: processing request: "<blah>"
