[scponly] Filezilla: "Fatal: unable to initialise SFTP: could not connect"

I've just installed scponly 4.3 on my RHES 4.0 box.

When connecting using Filezilla configured to use servertype "SFTP using
SSH2" over port 22, I get the following:

Status:    Connecting to myserver.net:22 ...
Status:    Connected with myserver.net:22, initializing SFTP connection...
Command:    CONNECT mytestuser at myserver.net:22
Response:    Fatal: unable to initialise SFTP: could not connect
Error:    Unable to connect!

My server log shows:

Jan 22 22:12:04 myserver sshd(pam_unix)[32327]: session opened for user
mytestuser by (uid=0)
Jan 22 22:12:04 myserver sshd(pam_unix)[32327]: session closed for user
mytestuser

I'm clueless. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this would be appreciated.
