[scponly] can someone explain --enable-quota-compat ?

I was planning on using quotas for my users on FreeBSD, which happens to
also use scponly.  I had no idea that there was some connection between
those two things (quotas and scponly)  ...  what exactly is that
connection ?

If I _don't_ --enable-quota-compat, and I just set up user quotas as
normal, does something negative happen ?

Any comments / information appreciated.
