i think i can offer another tip with regard to your problems, pierre...

one of the steps of the chroot installation process is setting scponlyc as
"setuid".  i reccomend looking into the "chmod" command, specifically the
"+s" option.  also, scponlyc will need to be root owned for setuid ot
function.

the exact command is in the makefile i believe but i encourage you to go
through the manpages and documentation until you are comfortable using it.
setuid() programs are a big contributor to elevated privilege exploits.
