Title: The Antidote of Social Engineering Attacks
Abstract:
Social Engineering a.k.a “Human hacking” is a kind of intrusion that relies heavily on human manipulation. Studies have shown that its impact continues to give serious concern to both the corporate and information security community. This concern is in part due to the ease with which the technique is used to infiltrate corporate networks.
Education & Awareness are the antidotes to this threat which technology cannot address. The ultimate goal of security awareness is to bring about behavioral change which reduces employees’ vulnerability.
Furthermore, a paradigm shift is required in the training of Information Assurance professionals in order to be better prepared to deal with challenges associated with data protection in the 21st century. Strategies for developing and implementing successful information security awareness will be presented.
