Title:
Building a career when the only constant is change

Time and Date:
April 1, 2004
2:50 until 4:00 pm

_Abstract

_Over the course of the last two decades, the theory and practice of
computer science have both made great strides. From early assembly language
programming to modern tooling, the job of being a computer programmer has
changed dramatically. New tools mean greater productivity, more abstract
thinking as well as greater room for error. During the course of this talk,
Mr. Rhodin will discuss some of these changes, put into the context of a
career - his own. From his graduation from the University of Michigan (BS -
1984) with a degree in computer science, Mr. Rhodin has quickly risen
through the ranks of IBM to his current position as Vice President, Lotus
Software Development and Support. A career in computer science takes on
many challenges over time, many of them unexpected, and this talk will
help the student understand how a career takes shape once graduation day has
arrived.

Here is a news article about the manager of Mr. Rhodin, Daniel Sabbah:
