At the annual ACM Awards Banquet April 2002, at the University of Toronto,
Kristen Nygaard will receive (together with Dahl) the A.M. Turing Award
"for ideas fundamental to the emergence of object oriented programming,
through their design of the programming languages Simula I and Simula 67."
On Thursday April 18, he will give a CCS Colloquium talk at Northeastern
University, on "How the basic concepts in object-oriented programming were
developed." Please mark your calendars! (Time and room to be announced.)
I will host Kristen Nygaard on April 18-20. (We are organizing
a Workshop on Comprehensive Object-Oriented Learning.)
