Here's the abstract. Some of us should probably go to this. --Mitch
Abstract:
MATLAB is a very powerful language used worldwide by scientists and
engineers. It is highly dynamically typed - basically having nolimitations
on how the types can be used. Although it has fantastic
power, it comes with a price; it is hard to compile M code into good C code,
or to any language with static types. Embedded MATLAB (EML) is a subset of
MATLAB where it is possible to generate good C code; the EML compiler
automates the process of converting M code into efficient C suitable for
targets encompassing everything from a micro-chip in an auto transmission to
a desktop workstation.
This talk will cover the potential benefits of using EML and the challenges
involved in implementing a MATLAB-to-C compiler, including an overview of
current and planned capabilities.
