For a change a very practical message with few abstractions in it :-)

The refrigerator outside my office is used by several PhD students
and a few faculty. So we want to keep it in good working order.

The refrigerator needs cleaning once a semester. I am looking for
a volunteer to organize this activity at the beginning of every semester.

Currently, the smell that comes from the refrigerator has caught significant
attention from my visitors. It has not made them run for the door, but
it soon will.
Therefore, by Thursday Oct. 8, 2pm have all your goodies, both new and very old,
removed from the refrigerator. We will start the defrosting process.
On Friday morning, one or two of us will clean it and by the afternoon
we should have a fresh smelling refrigerator with plenty of room.

There are two rules we should follow to keep the refigerator functioning well:

1. Please promptly remove your food items that are past their time!
2. Please put your food in well sealed containers so that juice and
smell cannot escape!

Note from Doreen: Make sure that all disposed items are placed in
the bathroom trash, which is emptied nightly. Otherwise
the odor will be worse in the lab.

I am looking for a PhD student who occasionally uses the refrigerator
to organize the cleaning and initiate this process at the beginning
of every semester. On behalf of all refrigerator users I would like
to thank this person in advance.

PS. I checked with Doreen and learned that we have to clean our
refrigerator ourselves.
The cleaning people won't do it.
