I've experienced a minor deluge of unfiltered Spam, though DNB claims
this is because my local ~/.spamassassin directory didn't get upgraded
as part of the supposedly-transparent process that was supposed to take
place a couple of weeks ago.

This sounds at least slightly reasonable to me, because spamassassin
*is* filtering some of my messages, though certainly not all.

So a more robust long-term solution might be to bug systems and have
them check to see if your local spamassassin config was updated, then
ask them to fix it if it wasn't. (I don't actually know how to check,
and in any case this reverse deluge might actually serve as an object
lessen to them that they're doing a crappy job of administering our
email system.)
