For the past couple of years, I have seen Scheme-ish code in Perl in
Software Design and it was award-winning design. You couldn't argue
with it. Why did I see this? Because I had trained those students in
the use of my design recipe and they had noticed that it helps them
code.

I have also seen snippets from industrial Perl code of this quality,
though I know only one person who does this, Chet Murthy, and he has
not accepted my invitation to speak here on his coding style.

Still, too few Perlers see the need for such coding and what's
worse Perl makes it difficult to do this. I think that's what Jeff
means when he says "it's in Python."
