Quantum Computing for PLaypersons
Abstract:
Quantum computing needs programming languages.
Quantum computing offers a delightful blend of analog and digital
computing, continuous and discrete, deterministic and probabilistic.
Quantum parallelism can deal with any number of problem instances, but
only one output can be read. With clever problem design, that one
output can tell us more than any known classical algorithm that runs
in comparable time.
Although no general-purpose quantum computers have yet been
constructed, researchers need quantum programming languages for
testing, debugging, and evaluating the potential performance of clever
quantum algorithms.
