We use verizon in Cumberland, RI (not me personally, but the company i
used to work for)

If your not running the dsl modem directly to your mac or windows PC,
don't expect to get any friendly support from them.  They'll refuse to
acknoledge the fact that the problem may be on their end, unless they run
you through their support script on a Windows PC or a mac.  This can get
rather frustrating at times.

They use PPPoE, so you'd have to do some setup there.

I live in cumberland myself, and i'm very happy with cox.net's cable
service and linux.  /sbin/pump -i eth1, and everything just works.
