Title: Superadditivity of quantum channel capacity via random matrix methods.

Abstract:
Random matrix methods have been recently used to prove the existence of quantum channels whose
capacity is superadditive over multiple uses. This phenomenon relies on the use of entangled signal
states and has no analog for classical channels. In addition to reviewing the background for these
ideas, this talk will explain some of the random matrix methods used in the proofs of existence of
such channels, including the recent work of Hastings. Some open questions will also be discussed.
